Hair Styling Prep
Before styling with the Silver Bullet City Chic Large Conical Curling Iron, I washed my hair with TIGI Fashionista Violet Shampoo and Conditioner. After getting out of the shower, I sprayed my hair with Macadamia Natural Oil Luxurious Oil Spray and brushed my hair to remove any tangles with The Wet Brush. I let my hair air dry to around 60% before spraying Keratin Complex Lift Off Root Amplifying Hair Styling Gel into the my roots to create volume. I then dried my hair using my hair dryer.
The Silver Bullet Conical Curler Lowdown
Once I turned the Silver Bullet City Chic on, it took only moments to heat up! I was surprised at how quickly it heated up. As I was styling my hair before work, the fast heat up was ideal as time was limited. The City Chic comes with a heat proof mat which you can rest your conical curling iron on while it’s heating up and in between styling. The cool tip end ensured I didn’t burn my fingers when holding a wrapped section of hair around the barrel. Once I was finished using the City Chic conical curling iron, I used the heat mat to wrap around the conical iron so I could put it straight back into my drawer without worrying about burning nearby items. What I noticed about the City Chic conical curling iron was how light it was to hold. Compared to other curling irons and conical curlers I have tried before, this was significantly lighter (an added bonus!) so there were no aching arms during the styling process. The professional length salon cord was great as I had a lot of room to move around while styling.
Styling my Hair Using the Silver Bullet City Chic Large Conical Curler
To style my hair using the City Chic conical curling iron, I divided my hair into three sections (bottom, middle and top). Starting at the bottom, I took a 2.5 cm section of hair, sprayed it lightly with Not Your Mother’s She’s a Tease Hairspray, brushed the section of hair to smooth and then wrapped the hair around the conical (starting at the wider end of the barrel wrapping down to the narrow end). I only needed to hold the section of hair around the barrel for approximately 5 seconds before releasing. After I had followed this process with my entire head, I sprayed my hair one last time with hairspray to set the style.
Final Verdict (drum roll please….)
As the price point for this product is extremely low (only $49.95), I was a little bit sceptical about the results from the Silver Bullet City Chic Large Conical Curling Iron. Let’s just say I was pleasantly surprised with a WOW moment! What a conical curler. This baby does it all. Heats fast, styles quickly and creates gorgeous curls. And did I mention it was dual voltage? I know what product I will be packing in my suitcase for my next trip to the USA.
